Physical exercises are only one part of overcoming sexual dysfunctions. If you're serious about restoring full control sexually then you need to understand which of your current thoughts and actions are causing your failure. After you understand how your problem works, THEN you can apply the correct thought and action sequence to stay in control sexually!
The research found that most of the men were overcoming erectile dysfunction naturally. The remission rate of those with erectile dysfunction was 29% which is high. This shows that many of these factors affecting men are actionable providing them an opportunity to do something about their condition. "Even when medication to help with erectile function is required it is likely to be considerably more effective if lifestyle factors are also addressed says Dr. Sean Martin lead author of the research paper. 

Before taking any medication for erectile dysfunction, including over-the-counter supplements and herbal remedies, get your doctor's OK. Medications for erectile dysfunction do not work in all men and might be less effective in certain conditions, such as after prostate surgery or if you have diabetes. It’s hard to concentrate on what’s happening in the bedroom when you’re thinking about problems at work. For many men, it’s psychological issues like anxiety rather than physical ones that contribute to E.D. Chronic stress has also been linked to heart disease, high blood pressure, depression, and more. Find a way of blowing off steam that works for you (I like exercise and meditation) and stick to it.
Erythrocytosis has been noted in men on TRT, and should be monitored every 6–12 months depending upon the patients’ response to changes in haematocrit levels. For mild elevations, the dosage of testosterone can be decreased or the interval of using the medication can be increased. With the haematocrit greater than 50%, decisions to temporarily discontinue the medication or periodic phlebotomy may be indicated.38
Penile implants - are generally used if physical damage (like an accident) makes the anatomical parts needed for an erection not work. These are inserted by surgery and can provide a permanent treatment choice if others fail to work. The implants can be semi-rigid or inflatable. They can be pretty expensive and are not usually available on the NHS.

Three of the randomized studies (25–27) that contributed to the present study data indicated the positive role of both interval and continuous aerobic training in the dual management of both ED and cardiovascular disorders (hypertension and ischemic heart disease ,respectively); this is not surprising because of the arterogenic interrelationship between ED and several cardiovascular disorders. The physiological basis for the therapeutic role of continuous exercise in the management of both ED and some cardiovascular disorders as reported in the present study, could be related to the biochemical, neural and hormonal changes in the blood vessel walls that induce an acute and long-term blood vessel relaxation. The blood vessels might relax after each exercise session because of body warming effects; local production of certain chemicals, such lactic acid and NO; decreases in nerve activity; and changes in certain hormones and their receptors (32, 33). Over time, as the exercise is repeated, there appears to be a growing evidence of a prolonged effect. Thus, chronic (regular, longterm) physical training might reduce basal concentrations of inflammatory markers.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, “because erectile dysfunction is caused by a complex set of psychosocial, neurologic, and vascular factors, a specific cause in a patient may remain ambiguous.” The root causes are often related to a blockage or dysfunction of blood vessels. For example, ED can be due to conditions like atherosclerosis or diabetes, hormonal imbalances or problems related to mental health. It’s been found that common causes typically include one or more of the following factors: (2)

Some men wonder about testosterone as an alternative for ED. The answer is that, unless testosterone plasma levels are at a low-level, adding more testosterone in a ‘normal’ individual won’t accomplish much, as clinical trials have shown. The other issue is that men with a cardiac history, adding testosterone to their therapy could prove highly risk to their health. If a patient does have low testosterone levels, it is possible to use testosterone supplements which come different formulation such as a topical ointment.
The HSE recommends that adults should complete 30 minutes of moderate intensity activity such as brisk walking or gentle cycling at least five days a week. If you’re new to exercising this is a good place to start – particularly if you are in poor health or are overweight. Sildenafil (Viagra), vardenafil (Levitra, Staxyn), tadalafil (Cialis) and avanafil (Stendra) are oral medications that reverse erectile dysfunction by enhancing the effects of nitric oxide, a natural chemical your body produces that relaxes muscles in the penis. This increases blood flow and allows you to get an erection in response to sexual stimulation.
"Nightly treatment may help promote erectile function as the result of this drugs' beneficial effect on endothelial cells," Frank Sommer, MD, said in a news conference. Endothelial cells line the walls of the blood vessels. Erections occur when the blood vessels in the penis dilate and fill with blood. Sommer, chief of andrology in the department of urology at the University of Cologne in Cologne, Germany, presented his findings at a meeting of the American Urological Association.
The active ingredient wogonin in the traditional Chinese herb Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi (commonly known as Chinese skullcap or Baikal skullcap) has been shown to inhibit ovarian cancer cells, according to oncology researchers in China. Although further investigation is needed, the researchers found that wogonin not only induces cancer cell apoptosis, but fights cancer cells through other mechanisms as well. Our bodies are designed to be active and in motion. By keeping active and engaging in regular aerobic exercise, you increase the blood flow to your muscles, and your penis along the way. One of the most interesting things about increasing your blood flow is that it becomes a signal to your blood vessels to grow and get wider. It benefits your brain, your heart, and your erection. The principle of "use it or lose it" is the best advise one can follow. In fact, if you don't engage in sexual activity at least once or twice a week, it would be beneficial to masturbate. This not only helps with prostate health, but encourages the blood vessels that contribute to your erection to maintain their patency and flow. 
Research has even found possible links to frequent ejaculation and a lower risk of prostate cancer. In one study of 32,000 men published in 2016 in the journal European Urology, for example, men who ejaculated at least 21 times per month while in their 20s were less likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer than those who ejaculated four to seven times per month. And men who ejaculated more often in their 40s were 22 percent less likely to get a prostate cancer diagnosis.

What if we look at erectile dysfunction as something that can be addressed as a condition other than a “pill for every ill”.   What if we actually look at a nutrient level that directly correlates to a medical condition and follow the science to give a directive on its recommendation?  Well it turns out taking a simple zinc supplement won’t help 100% of the time, but it certainly helps some of the time.

However, for most men who experience erectile dysfunction, their overall experience can be improved even further through regular exercise. There are many reasons why exercise improves sexual satisfaction. For one thing, regular, sustained exercise can lead to the release of chemicals called endorphins that are responsible for the so-called runner’s high, and which stimulate the release of sex hormones. Exercise also generally improves mood and imparts a sense of calm afterward, with lower heart rate, lower blood pressure, better digestion, and lower levels of stress hormones.


Though higher doses of zinc reduce libido, supplementation with a medium dose (5 mg/day) has some beneficial effect on the sexual competence of adult male rats. The major significant effects of this dose of zinc are prolongation of ejaculatory latency without disturbing sexual arousability, motivation, penile erection and sex vigor. Also, the partner preference index of the 5 mg/day group was positive and comparable to the controls. A positive partner preference index is indicative of unchanged sexual interest of males.[16] These results confirmed that libido and sexual interest are not affected by zinc supplementation with a 5 mg/day dose. However, mild reduction in percentage of intromission was observed in this group and it is postulated that this may be situational rather than an effect of supplemented zinc. This is based on our observation where mild rejection by the females at the initial phase of the behavior led some males to refrain from sexual activity.

Relevant publications were searched up to November 2010 in the MEDLINE (PubMed) database. The citation lists of randomized controlled trials on the effect of aerobic training and Erectile Dysfunction management using the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) as treatment outcome measure. Studies on different operative techniques on the effects of aerobic training for men with Erectile Dysfunction due to arterogenic Erecile Dysfunction were selected. Data on participants' characteristics, study quality, population, intervention, treatment outcome were collected and analyzed.


Many products contain undocumented “fillers” that can cause allergic reactions.  In recent years, the FDA has found over 300 herbal products that contain hidden, deceptively labeled, or dangerous ingredients4. And since 2015, the FDA has released public warnings on more than 160 ED supplements and “male enhancement” products found to contain dangerous ingredients and contaminants5 .   An independent study of FDA data, conducted in 2018, found almost 800 herbal supplements that contained unlisted ingredients6.
"Erections are good for your penis, and probably good for mental health. Taking medication for erections may also be good for a man's overall health. This is the first study to look at long-term treatment to improve erectile function in men, but the sample is too small to definitively answer the question. We really need a big study with a long follow-up to know the answers." Mulhall, who was not involved in the study, is an associate professor and director of sexual medicine in the departments of urology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

Surgery for erectile dysfunction is usually considered only after all other options have failed. The two surgical options include the insertion of a semi-rigid rod or the implantation of a three-piece inflatable prosthesis. Penile prosthesis implantation has low infection, complication, and malfunction rates. However, since placement of an implant requires permanent injury to the erectile tissue of the penis, implant treatment is considered irreversible.
Take note that you may not be able to complete a series of about 10 kegel exercises on your first try. This is just fine. Just do what you can, and gradually work on more kegel exercises until you reach 10 to 20 kegels, up to three times in a day. When performing these exercises, avoid holding your breath, or pushing your stomach, thigh muscles, or buttocks in. It would be helpful if you relax after every count of five. You may also challenge yourself by alternating between long and short squeezes.
As men age they require more stimulation up front to get and maintain an erection firm enough for sex.  Engaging in some foreplay either on you or on your partner is a great way to get your arousal levels up and get an erection that is firm enough for sex.  Many men begin to rush the process of sex once they experience ED.  They worry that they will lose their erection so they rush rather than go slow understanding that rushing will only make the problem worse.
Viagra is eliminated mainly by the cytochrome p450 system in the liver. Elderly men and men with liver or kidney dysfunction have reduced ability to eliminate the drug. Therefore, these patients should start with the lowest dose (25 mg) to avoid problems with toxicity. Medications that interfere with cytochrome p 450 (such as erythromycin, cimetidine, and ketoconazole) can also decrease the elimination of Viagra. These other medications should preferably be stopped when using Viagra, or Viagra should be used cautiously starting with the lowest dose.
E.D. may just be that early warning sign. Erections depend on blood flow, and blood flow depends on nice, wide-open arteries. Atherosclerosis doesn’t just affect the arteries around your heart; if you have plaque build-up, you are likely to have it all around the arterial system — and the penile artery is one of the smallest arteries you have (no matter what you claim about your size). So if you have atherosclerosis, then the plaque there will be one of the first places where you would notice a decline in blood flow.
Yohimbine: The main component of an African tree bark, yohimbine is probably one of the most problematic of all natural remedies for ED. Some research suggests that yohimbine can improve a type of sexual dysfunction that is linked with a drug used to treat depression. However, studies have linked yohimbine to a number of side effects, which can include anxiety, increased blood pressure, and a fast, irregular heartbeat. Like all natural remedies, yohimbine should only be used after advice and under supervision from a doctor.
How common is impotence? According to findings from several studies, including “The Massachusetts Male Aging Study,” overall prevalence for men between 40–70 years old is around 52 percent (or around 30 percent of all men between 18–60 years old). That’s right — nearly half of all men over 40 experience erectile dysfunction symptoms at some point. Not surprisingly, research demonstrates that impotence is increasingly prevalent with age. Around 40 percent of men in their 40s experience sexual dysfunction. Up to 70 percent of men in their 70s experience ED. (1) Every year more than 617,000 new cases of impotence occur in the United States alone.

Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) are independent risk factors for sexual dysfunction in older men (Rosen et al 2003). A possible role for PDE5i in the treatment of LUTS has been presented (McVary 2005). Sairam and colleagues (2002) showed that ED treatment with sildenafil improved both sexual function scores (based on IIEF) and LUTS and urinary scores correlated strongly with sexual function scores at 3 months. Mulhall and colleagues (2006), in a group of ED patients treated with sildenafil, similarly noticed that 60% of men improved their IPSS score, and 35% had at least a 4-point improvement in their score. If ongoing clinical research proves these preliminary data, it will open the avenue for innovative therapeutic approaches.
Among the phenomena in the ageing man are a decrease in erectile function and testosterone levels. Add to these, increased risk for CVD, muscle wasting, decrease in bone density and libido, with all of these factors having an interplay with testosterone metabolism.33 Androgens play a key role in maintaining erectile function through four main mechanisms. Androgen deprivation has been shown to result in impairment of NO synthase release, altered PDE5 expression and activity, impaired cavernosal nerve function, and contribution to veno-occlusive disease in the penis.34 The role of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) as a potential to improve erectile function in the man with ED remains an issue for patient and physicians who are comfortable treating androgen deficiency which include primary care physicians and specialists. Androgens are known to have a significant impact on the function of the smooth musculature within the corpus spongiosum.35

Drug interactions. Some medications can change how long the effects of Viagra last. This includes medications like the antibiotic ‘rifampicin’ (used to treat tuberculosis). When you’re getting assessed for treatment with Viagra, always give as much information as you can about your medications so the doctor can make sure it’s safe for you, this includes any treatments that were not prescribed by a doctor


Several new studies have proven not only the cardiovascular safety of sildenafil, but have also suggested that sildenafil may have a cardioprotective role. PDE5A inhibition by sildenafil blunts systolic responses to beta-adrenergic stimulation suggesting a possible role in modifying stimulated cardiac function (Borlaug et al 2005). Chronic inhibition of cGMP phosphodiesterase 5A by sildenafil prevents and reverses cardiac hypertrophy (Takimoto et al 2005). Finally, sildenafil is the only PDE5i that improved arterial oxygenation in patients with pulmonary hypertension (Ghofrani et al 2004) and it has been recently approved in doses of 20 mg and 40 mg, taking every 8 h life-long by patients with pulmonary hypertension (Galie et al 2005).

In this study, ED proceeded CVD in almost 70% of cases. Similarly, many men with ED have been found to have pre-existing CVD. A study by Vlachopoulos et al evaluated the incidence of asymptomatic CVD in 50 men with ED.22 These authors found that 19% of men with ED had asymptomatic CVD. Similarly, Mulhall and colleagues found that 20% of men presenting with ED and vascular insufficiency on penile duplex had asymptomatic CVD.23

How soon the drugs start working ranges from 15 to 60 minutes. Neither Viagra nor Levitra will work if you take them after a meal, which blocks their absorption. However, neither Cialis nor Stendra interact with food this way. The onset time determines how soon you can engage in intercourse. Stendra and daily-use Cialis are closest to being an "on demand" erectile drug; using the others requires more planning.
Several studies have shown that erectile dysfunction is somehow linked to problems with cardiovascular health — which one comes first has been the question. It makes sense; the penis becomes erect through a complex system of blood vessels and spongy tissue called the corpora cavernosa — this is where the blood gets trapped, causing the erection. When problems arise through this system, whether they’re caused in the brain or through problems with the blood vessels, the penis can’t get erect.
Alprostadil self-injection. With this method, you use a fine needle to inject alprostadil (Caverject Impulse, Edex) into the base or side of your penis. In some cases, medications generally used for other conditions are used for penile injections on their own or in combination. Examples include papaverine, alprostadil and phentolamine. Often these combination medications are known as bimix (if two medications are included) or trimix (if three are included).
